Red, white and blue. These were the colors proudly displayed on the first Kobussen bus driven in 1938, when the Kaukauna Board of Education chose Elwood Kobussen (aka Grandpa Goldie), a dairy farmer and trucker by trade, to bus out-of-town high school students to and from school.
So began the Kaukauna Bus Service Inc. In 1938, the city of Kaukauna contracted us to operate and manage its intercity transit system. In 1967, we began transporting students for the Neenah Joint School District.
We changed our name in 1976 to Kobussen Buses Ltd. And in 1980, Outagamie County hired us to provide transportation services to adults with disabilities. In 1983, we branched into the luxury motorcoach business.
Today, our booming business employs nearly 400 dedicated people who operate an entire fleet of luxury motorcoaches, school buses and charter vehicles.
Grandpa Goldie’s company just keeps growing and growing, and our friendly drivers continue to take folks to their destinations … all while treating them just like family.
